The Elk Grove Park District greatly appreciates your continued patience as we work to improve Johnson Park and the tennis court. Last fall a contract was signed to resurface and renovate the tennis courts, fencing and walk areas as part of our 2008 Capital Improvement Plan. However, as the work started, the contractor uncovered major drainage issues with the courts, making it impossible to resurface the court properly. Park District staff had to then install additional drainage to attempt to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, heavy and frequent spring rains and additional drainage issues have continued to delay the progress of the project. Again, the courts were not draining and the Park District had to install additional drain tile structures to eliminate underground water.
The resurfaced tennis courts are a priority and we are working with the contractor to complete the project as soon as possible.

The two professional courts are 90 feet by 13 feet and feature a wood containment boarder to keep the balls from rolling away. Bench seating is available and the courts are handicapped accessible.
