Historical Society Information

The Elk Grove Historical Society was formed on July 10, 1975 and has been an important factor in the preservation of our local history ever since.  The mission of the Elk Grove Historical Society is to bring together for mutual enrichment, people who are interested in discovering the heritage of our village and immediate area.  Using educational programs, exhibits and the museum facilities, the historical society in partnership with the museum strives to provide ongoing opportunities for guests of all ages to immerse themselves in the rich and diverse history of Elk Grove.

 

Membership

The Historical Society is looking for new members to join our museum family!  Membership benefits include entrance to Spring Planting, Pioneer Day and Dairy Day, a members only holiday party, quarterly newsletter, free copies of research records, 10% off all items in the museum store and discounts on museum programs!  Below are the costs for society membership:

  • Individual Membership-$15.00
  • Family Membership-$20.00
  • Senior Membership-$8.00
  • Student with ID-$8.00
  • Corporate Membership-$100.00
  • Lifetime Membership-$200.00

Volunteer Opportunities

The Farmhouse Museum and Historical Society are looking for members of the community willing and able to volunteer their services.  This is a wonderful opportunity for you to become more involved in our museum!  Below are some of the areas that need your assistance.

  • Collections Care
  • Program Preparation  
  • Oral History
  • Fundraising
  • Membership
  • Research and Writing
  • Genealogy  
  • Artisan (I.e.. woodworking, knitting, weaving, gardening, etc.)

Resident Donations

The Historical Society is looking for your help in sharing old photos, stories or artifacts with the museum!  Below are just some ideas of what we are looking for:

  • Photographs
  • Maps
  • Oral Histories and Stories
  • Artifacts (Clothing, House ware, etc.)

Because of our limited space, not all items can be accepted but we would love for you to share with us your pieces of Elk Grove history!
