Elk Grove Park District Wins 2017 IPRA Exceptional Workplace Award

Every five years a park district has the opportunity to apply for the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) Health & Wellness Committee’s Exceptional Workplace Award. The Elk Grove Park District won in 2012 and again in 2017.

In order to win this award the agency must complete a detailed online survey which includes a series of 50 questions. A point value is assigned to each question. The questions ask for proof of wellness policies and programs for your employees. You must provide evidence of wellness checks, health seminars and environmental education. The Elk Grove Park District employee health and wellness programs include subjects on intellectual and physical stimulation, recycling, comfort, safety and diversity.

This award is confirmation that our District policies and programs enhance the work-life experience. The District believes that by providing these wellness initiatives it was effective in reducing the costs of health insurance with a .08% increase in health insurance in 2017 and a .10% decrease in 2018. The Elk Grove Park District received the Exceptional Workplace Award at the 2018 IAPD/IPRA Annual Conference held this past January.
