The Elk Grove Village Youth Committee, Elk Grove Park Foundation and the Village of Elk Grove are pleased to announce our 2020 Youth Committee Scholarship Winners, David Gora and Sarah McNamara.
David Gora was selected by the Park Foundation for his volunteerism to our community and his dedication in helping others over the years. During our current pandemic, David showed exemplary leadership and dedication to helping others by utilizing his own 3D printer to make COVID-19 approved face shields for local first responders and frontline essential workers.
Sarah McNamara was selected by the Park Foundation for her volunteerism to the Elk Grove Village community by helping young children who struggled to swim. Sarah is no stranger to the Elk Grove Park District, having participated in many of our programs over the years as a young child and later as a Park District lifeguard. Additionally, Sarah drew on her aquatics experience and as a Girl Scout to combat the issue of helping struggling swimmers by pursuing the Girl Scouts Gold Award, which is the highest achievement a Girl Scout can earn.
Both winners were recognized at the July 9, 2020 Elk Grove Park District Board Meeting and personally awarded certificates and a $1,000 scholarship check for their outstanding leadership, participation and service to our community. We’re proud to recognize these amazing youth leaders as people in our community you should know!
