Volunteers Honored with Special Recognition Award

The Elk Grove Park District will honor Darlene Greaves and Jim Issel on Sunday, September 8th, 2019 at 1:30pm at the annual Pioneer Day event. A plaque with their names will be displayed in recognition at the School House Orientation Center on the Elk Grove Historical Museum Campus.

Both Darlene and Jim have made substantial contributions to the Elk Grove Historical Society. In 1975 Darlene Greaves helped to create the Historical Society and was instrumental in relocating the Farmhouse Museum to its current location. Jim Issel joined the Historical Society in 1996 and created the Historical Association in 2001. The Historical Association has a 501(c)3 status and is able to accept funds for the future stability of the Historical Society. Jim has been instrumental in investing the funds to ensure sustainability.

The Pioneer Day event is from 1 to 5pm on the Museum grounds at 399 Biesterfield Road in Elk Grove Village. Pioneer Day is a free event put on annually by the Elk Grove Historical Museum. Everyone is invited to attend the event and the special recognition ceremony.
