Musical Theatre

The Elk Grove Park District Art Centre offers an extensive number of exceptional classes in the performing, visual and applied arts. We offer classes to all ages at a variety of times to meet the needs of all of our customers. The Art Centre is housed in the Jack A. Claes Pavilion. Our highly trained and experienced staff takes pride in educating and enhancing the lives of others through the arts.

The theatre program at the Elk Grove Park District is best known for its Spotlight Theater productions. Cast members are children ranging in ages 7yrs – Adult. Every production is staffed by professionals from the theatre world who bring a wealth of knowledge and energy to each show. Past shows include Aladdin Jr., Seussical Jr., Willy Wonka Jr., Alice in Wonderland Jr., High School Musical Jr., The Little Mermaid Jr., Annie Jr., Into the Woods Jr., Beauty & the Beast Jr., The Lion King Jr., Shrek the Musical , Peter Pan Jr., Descendants, The Wizard of Oz and Matilda Jr., Big Fish Elf Jr. and Annie.

Spotlight Theatre of the Elk Grove Park District will present The Little Mermaid in the Summer of 2025!

Ariel, a mermaid fascinated by the human world and desires to leave her undersea kingdom and live on land. She falls in love with Prince Eric after saving him from a storm and makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to trade her voice for legs. She must then win the prince’s heart within three days but faces obstacles and heartbreak along the way.

Audition Materials

Please be prepared to dance, sing a 32 measure selection of your choosing and perform a 1-2 minute monologue. Participants must register to audition! Auditions are held at Rainbow Falls Community Center.

Volunteers Welcome

Putting on a theatre show is a big deal! We welcome extra sets of hands and talents ages 10 and older who are interested in helping out in all sorts of theatre functions that include: costuming, set building, props, stage hands, guest seating and more! To volunteer to help out with our performances or for more information about the program, call 847.690.1109.
