Pool Rules & Guidelines

Elk Grove Park District Code of Conduct

Users shall abide by all rules and regulations and shall conduct themselves in a safe, considerate, and reasonable manner so as not cause disturbance or to damage equipment and property. Users will display respect, consideration and courtesy to all members, participants, staff, and Park District property. The Park District reserves the right to discontinue an individual’s use or membership because of disruptive or unsafe behavior.

Pavilion Aquatics Center Rules

  • Admission to the swimming facility shall be refused to all persons having any contagious disease or infectious conditions.
  • Our pools are chemically treated for proper sanitation and safety. Patrons should avoid swallowing pool water.
  • Littering is prohibited. No food, drink (other than water), gum, or tobacco is allowed. Glass containers are prohibited.
  • No horseplay, prolonged breath holding, pushing, shoving, dunking, or wrestling allowed.
  • Spitting, spouting of water, blowing the nose or otherwise introducing contaminants into the swimming pool is not permitted.
  • Must be 18 years of age to use the Whirlpool and Steam Room
  • Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing safety rules and responding to emergencies.  Parents or guardians should supervise their children.
    • Children under 10 must be accompanied by a paying adult 16 years of age or older at all times.
    • Children under 5 and children wearing Life Jackets must have a paying adult 16 years of age or older in the water with them at all times.
    • No one should swim alone.
  • Children must be toilet-trained or wear tightly fitting swim diapers (available for purchase).
  • Flotation devices must be US Coast Guard approved.
  • Diving in water less than 5 feet deep is not permitted.
  • Swimming is prohibited at the outdoor pool when thunder is heard or lightning is seen, including a 30-minute period after the last lightning or thunder is detected.
  • All persons are encouraged to take a shower before swimming.
  • A swim suit is required to enter the water (unlined and cutoff shorts are not allowed); all apparel worn in the pools should be clean.
  • Only clean footwear, baby strollers or wheelchairs are allowed in the swimming facility.
  • Staff reserve the right to alter, add, or revise facility rules based on operational and safety needs.

Lap Pool Rules (Indoor/Outdoor)

  • Starting blocks are for swim team use only.
  • Kickboards and pull buoys are for lap swimmer use only.
  • Diving is only permitted in the deep end.
  • No horseplay, prolonged breath holding, pushing, shoving, dunking, or wrestling allowed.
  • Chicken fights, piggy back rides, standing on other swimmers is not allowed.

Lagoon Rules

  • Diving is not allowed.
  • Roped area at bottom of slide is designated for slide riders only.
  • Please park strollers by the whirlpool wall with the brakes on.
  • Toys must be kept below the height of the water features.

Slide Rules

  • The slide attendant will direct patrons as to when they may go down the slide.
  • Must be a proficient swimmer and at least 43 inches tall to ride slide.
  • Rider ahead must be off slide for next person to ride.
  • All riders must enter and exit slide on backside, feet first only. Standing, stopping, sliding down head first, and diving from the
    end of the slide are strictly prohibited.
  • Only one person allowed on the slide at a time. Chain or double riding and catching of swimmers at bottom of slide is not permitted.
  • Glasses, goggles, flotation devices and toys are not allowed on slide.
  • When riding the slide, please exit roped area immediately.

Whirlpool and Steam Room Rules

  • Elderly persons, pregnant women, persons using prescription medications, and persons suffering from high blood pressure should consult with a physician before using the whirlpool or steam room.
  • Patrons under the age of 18 are not permitted to use the whirlpool or steam room.
  • The whirlpool and steam room are not protected by a lifeguard.
  • No person should spend more than 15 minutes in the whirlpool or steam room during one session.
  • Individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs shall not use the whirlpool or steam room.
  • Jewelry should not be worn in the whirlpool or steam room.
  • All persons are strongly encouraged to take a shower before entering the whirlpool or steam room.
  • Maximum number of people in the whirlpool should not exceed 12.
