Art / Theatre Camps

The Elk Grove Park District offers the ever-popular Summer Art Camp and Theatre Camp every summer. Summer Art Camp allows campers to experience the wonders of art in a fun, low-key camp setting. Campers explore new techniques and mediums daily, go swimming and take an art-related field trip. In Theatre Camp, campers put on a full-scale musical production in just a few short weeks. Campers learn theatre fundamentals, including costuming and set design. Theatre camp goes swimming and takes a theatre-related field trip each week.

Summer Art Camp

Ages 6 - 12

Let your imagination run wild by exploring new techniques each day! Mediums include watercolor, pastel, drawing, sculpture, crafts, pottery and more. Every Wednesday the camp will take a different and exciting art-related field trip, and every Tuesday the camp will go swimming - don't forget a swimsuit and a towel! Children must bring a lunch each day or sign up for hot lunch through the hot lunch program. We will top off our week with an art show on Friday from 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm where family and friends can view your very own exhibit!

Theatre Camp

Ages 7 - 14

Campers will put on a full-scale musical theatre production on stage at the Prairie Lakes Theatre! Within the five week camp, Counselors will teach basic theatre fundamentals with first-hand tricks to memorizinf lines, character development, costuming and set design. Campers will receive two complimentary tickets for either performance, a t-shirt, and a personalized bag. Attendance the last week of camp is mandatory for tech rehearsals held after camp at 6pm and twp public performances on the last Friday of camp at 6pm and the following Saturday at 11am. Campers must bring lunch each day or sign uo for the Hot Lunch Program. Campers will experience theatre-related field trips and will go swimming each week of camp. 

Behind the Scenes Camp 

Ages 7 - 14

Have you ever wondered what it takes to put together a musical production from behind-the-scenes? Do you marvel at the tech and light equipment, curious to know more about what is required of tech or stage crew? Are you interested in learning about the planning strategies that directors, choreographers, and costume designers use? This one-week camp will be filled with backstage tip, tricks, and lessons. You will learn what directors look for when casting a show, how to work a light/sound board, and so much more. Join us for a week of backstage, theatrical fun! Campers will experience theatre-related field trips and will go swimming each week of camp.
